Riverside Record informs us on July 2 2001: The Inmates: long-lost “Beatles” album to be released in September The legendary "Meet the Beatles - Live in Paris" by The Inmates will be released in September by Riverside Records. Both original masters and artwork were lost after the album's original release in 1987 and no reprint had been possible since. The album comprises 13 tracks (2 more than the original vinyl LP), all written by Lennon-McCartney and performed live in a gun-smoking R&B style. In 1987, the leading French newspaper Libération organised a concert in Paris to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sgt Pepper album. They asked The Inmates to do that unique gig, bringing the dirty sound of stonesy R&B to the songs of The Beatles, like the Stones themselves did in 1963 when they covered I Wanna Be Your Man. “Meet the Beatles” is the live recording of that memorable concert. The album was produced, as usual, by Vic Maile. The Inmates will play a few UK dates, to be announced soon, to promote the release. Track list:
