Bengt Bygren was a sideman of Björn Afzelius (b. 1947, d.
1999) and a member of the Globetrotters in the 80's and early 90's.
Bengt is often found on stage today, in his turn backing up
friends from Bygren & Co., and Totta's fringe musicians Valuable member of Patricia
Page & the Prophets and Harry
Banks Buzzers - and also guesting on various rootsy albums by

& Co. repertoire:
"The Heart Of Saturday Night", "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" och "Ol' '55" (Tom Waits), "Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness" och "All The Best" (John Prine), "Gotta Serve Somebody" och "Everything Is Broken" (Bob Dylan), "Tonight Will Be Fine" (Leonard Cohen), "Honky Tonk Blues" (Hank Williams) etcetera. | |
Björn Afzelius backing band 'Globetrotters' also doubled as 'Little Big Blues Band', issuing one album ("Jump Music" DISCREET DISLP 2001) in '86 - and playing at least one impressive gig at Göteborg's 'Nefertiti', bowling over this page's editor completely. Bengt Bygren played glorious blues organ, Janne Brynstedt shone on his Strat guitar and Göran Ekstrand sang the blues like there's no tomorrow. And Hannes Råstam & Tomas Olsson swung like mad. A giant helping of Louis Jordan, Amos Milburn and Roy Brown jump music was served. Hey guys, you should have kept it up! For readers of fine print on album covers everywhere: both Messrs. Brynstedt & Ekstrand came from the rock group Motvind into the Globetrotters. |
