Lineup for 2001: Göran Svenningsson: guitars and vocals Stefan Dafgård: vocals and harp Magnus Lanshammar: bass Daniel Winerö: drums (deputizing for Erik Qvick - who in his turn replaced Jim Ingvarsson, featured in this page's pictures)
Leading this hardworking outfit is Göran: A guitarist of great powers and with an excellent grasp of different blues styles. Check him out on stage with his beautiful fat jazz box Gibson, doing a brilliant rendition of Johnny "Guitar" Watson's "Hit the Highway". Or bringing the house down, playing violent slide on a hotrodded Strat. |
Stefan Dafgård on harp & vocals | The Instigators also periodically gig in Scandinavia as solid sidemen to U.S. guitarist Rusty Zinn (the gentleman in blue in the photo above). |
The 2nd Instigators CD was called "Volume Two" (check that knob!) - and you can read all about it here!
Make an investment for the future: Try to get hold of their first CD "Rock'n'Bowl!" on Flex-A-Tone Records FLEX 101. CD features 50's styled blues with a jumpin' horn section on several tracks, as well as some traditional Chicago blues. |
"The Instigators' "Rock 'n' Bowl" is the band's debut release, and with
it they display the versatility that makes them such a consistently
interesting and enjoyable musical experience. As might be expected,
there are nods of some of their heroes--Muddy, Elmore, Magic Sam and
others--but the majority of these songs are originals that cover the
full spectrum of the blues rainbow." (Adapted from the linernotes written by Scott Dirks) |
