Leading the 50's style R&B outfit Howlin'
Wilf & The Vee-Jays from the mid-80's on, singer and guitarist
James Hunter made some lineup changes and started writing more
soul material.
In the early 90's he performed as Howlin' Wilf & His Band, a.k.a. James Hunter & The Jokers. His meeting with Van Morrison in '91 resulted in touring and recording with Van. In the late 90's James led his own James Hunter And His Band, featuring (at least) two saxes. Or you could find him performing in a threepiece as the James Hunter Trio. During this period he recorded the two excellent albums of well crafted original material on ACE (1996) and RUF (1999) listed below! |

In 2005/2006 a new chapter began in James' career. The brand new record company GO RECORDS with a firm belief in James' talents issued in 2006 a sensational CD, "People Gonna Talk". And talk they did: Billboard put it at number one on their Billboard Blues Chart, week of 6/03/06. And James appeared on US shows like Conan O'Brian. Finally it's time to cash in: This guy paid HIS dues! |
